Second visit this week to the Barbican to check out these birdies, the star attractions of Celeste Boursier-Mougenot’s installation at the The Curve. They’re Zebra Finches that fly, skip and hop around a series of electric guitars and cymbals, which are wired up to play as the birds strike notes. Bizarre. Cute. Art?! Addictive to watch. This time I got some quick sketching done, though the little guys don’t stay still much! When they’re not chirping away to each other, or at the visitors, they’re scrabbling away at bushes and making nests. A thoroughly un-natural habitat, and yet beautiful to see them getting on with their business, better than a David Attenborough show!
