A truly London beverage

I love London, buildings, drawing, and a little alcoholic beverage now and then. So the opportunity to combine some of my favourite things? Amazing.

Just wobbled back on my bike after a happy evening at the Meantime Brewery in Greenwich. Tonight was the first outing for their new London Lager, and the first glimpse of the this shiny new label, which features  artwork drawn by one town mouse. I was lucky enough to meet their small but passionate team and get a tour of their new brewery with a bottle in hand. Though Meantime are still a very young  company the new plant is the largest brewery investment in London since Guinness built their factory in the 1930s, and the beer, made from East Anglian barley and Kentish hops, is all brewed, bottled and labelled a stone’s throw away from the Thames making it truly local. Surreal to think that this production line is now rolling out thousands of bottles a week with my drawings on! London Lager is available at a host of shops and bars across London.

Better yet, the lovely people at Meantime are showing their love for the capital by taking a taxi and a caravan across town for the next month or so handing out free samples! Look out for this bright yellow taxi charging up a street near you or check out the London Lager website, facebook (check out the video of the bottling line!) or twitter page for details of where they’ll be next.
