The Mudlark and his dog
A few weeks ago I was drawing with a small group around the South Bank and instead of drawng the architecture I was mesmerised by this Mudlark and his dog, who I later found out were called Jamie and Charlie. Patiently trawling, pottering, searching along the shore line as the rest of London got on with its business above…
Townmouse those sketches are gorgeous! I love their vitality, much more informative and beautiful as a photo. I too love architecture, I am ‘spabbygirl’ online cos I run the glos group of spab, but am a social worker in my work life & love working with children too. How lovely for them to be able to meet you at the V&A & learn drawing. Have you any prints & drawing for sale? I love these sort of roughly worked sketches. PS, spabby means anything that is old, shows it, and loves it too, a bit like me!
You might both like this quote a book by Heather & Robin Tanner. “Wiltshire Villagee” that I read last night, “To call back yesterday would be foolish even if it were possible: but in order that what was noble in the yesterday that still lingers might not pass unhonoured and unlamented this book has been made” Shabby isn’t really shabby.
Wonderful drawings
Great immediacy in these sketches. Great range and actions.
